Today was my last day in Acadia National Park. I had a very good vacation. I went hiking, bird watching, horseback riding, walking on the beach, bus tours, and learning new information. The weather has been sunny and good all week. I think my favorite activity would be going to the beach. I also think Hulls Cove visitor center was a good place to stop at. I really enjoyed my vacation and would have no problem with doing it all over again. I cannot wait to come back next year!
Today the high was 64 degrees and the low was 29 degrees. For my last activity, I decided I was going to go on a bus tour. I wanted to make sure I got to learn and see all the great things of Acadia National Park. The tour was 2.5 hours long. The tour also said information about the park. One of the stops that the bus made was on Cadillac Mountain. However, they only do this from October to May. The tour was very informative and fun. Ever since I went to the beach this morning, I have been wondering what the weather is like in different seasons. I know what the weather is like in the spring. I think Acadia is probably the prettiest during summer or winter. It depends what a person likes, though. In the summer Acadia probably has a high of 90 degrees and a low of 50 degrees. It is also sunny most of the time. There are a lot more activities you can do in the summer than in any other season. There are still activities for the other seasons but most of the time it is too cold to involve water unless it is the summer time. This morning I decided to find something relaxing to do. The high for today was 57 degrees and the low was 34 degrees. Since it was sunny out, I decided I would go walk on the beach. However, I did not get in the water because the water was to cold. Even though all I did was walk, I still had a great time. I so much fun that I stayed all day. I enjoyed watching the boats go by and seeing some harbor seals poke their heads up out of the water. The sound of the waves was very relaxing. This afternoon, I decided I would go do an outdoor activity that is really fun. Acadia National Park has so many choices like climbing, boating, swimming, horseback riding and much more. However, I only had enough time to pick just one activity. I chose horseback riding. It looked like it would be a fun way to spend the afternoon because I love animals. Again, I went on Carriage Road for this trip. The trail allows 45 miles of riding, but I only did 5 miles. Today the weather was pretty good. The high was 63 degrees and the low was 36 degrees. I decided I would just take a walk. I walked around the island of Bar Harbor. As I was enjoying watching the waves, I saw something moving in the water. I looked closely and realized it was a harbor seal. I thought back to day one of my trip and remembered that one of the staff members at Hulls Cove visitor center actually talked about the seals. The staff member told me that harbor seals are near the top of the food chain for their ecosystem. The only other animals that eat them are some types of sharks and killer whales. Today I went to go see the cliffs of Acadia National Park. I went because the weather was pretty good. The high was 61 degrees and the low was 39. Since the cliffs are along the coast, the trails to go see the cliffs are very pretty. I went on the Ocean Path trail which was right against the coast. I really enjoyed seeing the water crash onto the side of the cliffs. There were many reasons for why I went to go see the cliffs. However, the main reason was because I really wanted to see one of Acadia's most famous natural resource. I am very happy that I went. The high for today was 58 degrees and the low was 37. It was also sunny all day. Today, I decided I was going to go bird watching. I was very excited because I knew I might have the chance to see one of Acadia's endangered animals, the Peregrine Falcon. And, as it turns out, I did see one. I was walking on Old Carriage Road again, because I just love that trail, when I saw the falcon. At first I did not notice the bird flying around. But then I finally saw the bird. The Peregrine Falcon was actually removed from the endangered list, due to the parks many efforts to protect it. When I woke up this morning, I thought about the many things that I would be able to do. Today, the high was 59 and the low was 39. It was also sunny today. Since I was new to the park, I decided what better way to explore, then to go hiking? One of the many reasons I chose to go hiking was because of the weather. In my opinion, this is perfect hiking weather. I hiked on one of the many famous Carriage Roads. The trail I went on was not very steep. It was easy to walk on and I saw many beautiful views. I used a topographic map to look at the elevation of the trail I would be on. This was very helpful for knowing what I was about to be on. I feel hiking was really worth my time. I arrived at Acadia National Park this morning. The high for today was 44 degrees and the low was 38 degrees. First, I looked at what the weather will be like all week. . I decided I wanted to learn some interesting facts, so I went to Hulls Cove Visitor Center. When I got there, the staff was very friendly and ready to help me with anything. I asked many questions, which they happily answered. One of them was about the history of Acadia National Park. I asked, Why is Acadia a national park? One staff member answered by saying it is a park because of preservation. A man named George B. Dorr wanted to preserve the beautiful landscape of Acadia National Park. The landscape was being disturbed by the growing development of Bar Harbor. Turning the area into Acadia National Park helped in preserving this amazing area. I am so happy that I visited this center. I learned many new things about Acadia National Park today. |
